Founders Bridge - Golf. Homes. Community.
Route 288

Q & A:
What you may be asking about Founders Bridge.

What schools will our children attend? Depending on their choice of homesite, residents at Founders Bridge may send their children to the highly rated schools of either Chesterfield or Powhatan County. Some of the schools serving the community are within a few minutes by car or school bus. Others are not far away. Excellent private and parochial schools are also located nearby, not only on the Founders Bridge side of the James, but also within a short drive across the River, thanks to the new Rt. 288 extension. (For more information on schools, see our Location page.)

Is the golf course private? Independence, the Tom Fazio-designed championship course at the Virginia State Golf Association Golf Center, was created to be the home course for VSGA members. This daily-fee course is also open to the public. Founders Bridge residents are eligible for VSGA membership, entitling them to member discounts and membership privileges. (For more information on the VSGA Golf Center, see our Golf page.)

What recreational amenities are offered? The Community Center at Founders Bridge features three outdoor pools, a tennis court, and a nearby playground. Walking paths and park areas in the community offer additional ways to exercise and relax. In fact, approximately 60% of our land is open space, including pristine clearings, parks and trails, the golf course and its lakes, and untouched woodland. (For more information on amenities, see our Site Plan page.)

How close is the new Rt. 288 extension to Founders Bridge? Richmond’s new high-speed highway across the James, Rt. 288, intersects Robious Road (Rt. 711) less than one mile west of Founders Bridge, giving residents easy access to key locations in the far West End and Chesterfield County, as well as to points east and west of Richmond. (To see how well connected Founders Bridge is, see our Location page.)

How large is Founders Bridge? Our community consists of 600 acres of rolling woodland and carefully preserved natural spaces, amid which you’ll find our recreational amenities (including the Independence golf course) and a variety of different home types. When construction is complete, there will be approximately 400 homes; about two-thirds of this number have already been sold.

What opportunities still remain for homes? As we approach the completion of construction, Founders Bridge is still offering Club Villas, starting at approximately 3,000 square feet; Estate Villas, ranging from 3,200 to 3,500 square feet; and Founders Crest homes, offering 3,200 square feet and up. Estate Homes are also still available; these vary in size and are located on homesites ranging from over 1/2 acre to more than one acre. A few remaining opportunities are located along the golf course. (For more information, see our Homes & Homesites page.)

What’s next at Founders Bridge? Although most construction at Founders Bridge is now complete, new homes and new home sections are still on the horizon. The best way to keep up with the latest is, of course, to come out and see for yourself. But regular visits to this site can help you stay up to date, too.
